What you need to know to plan your MIC experience

What are the dates of MIC?

September 16-19, 2024

When does MIC officially start?

MIC will officially start with our Opening General Session at 5 p.m. on Monday, September 16, with Doug Remboldt, NISC President and CEO, speaking along with a guest keynote speaker.

Where is MIC being held?

MIC is being held in Lake Buena Vista, Florida at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort. All of the MIC sessions and activities except for MICfest will be held at the resort.

When are the Member Advisory Committee and Sub-Functional Committee meetings being held?

These meetings will be held during the day on Monday, September 16, before the MIC Opening Session from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. More details will be shared as they become available.

When can I book my room?

Like last year, you will make your hotel reservations using a special link once you have registered for the conference. This will put you in NISC’s room block where you will get a discounted room rate. The hotels will not honor the NISC rate when reservations are made by any other method. Also, there is a limit of one room/suite per full conference registration.

What hotels are available in the NISC room block?

We will have room blocks at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort and the Walt Disney World Swan Reserve plus Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts. Both the Walt Disney World Swan Reserve and Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts are within easy walking distance of the conference venue.  Remember there is a limit of one room/suite per full conference registration. Please visit the hotels page for more information.

Can I book a room any days before and/or after the conference for my personal stay? Will I be able to get NISC’s discounted rate for those days?

Due to the overwhelming desire of our conference attendees to extend their hotel dates beyond our group room block dates of September 16 – 19, we can no longer accept your accommodations extension requests. There are still hotels available for the MIC dates of September 16-19 only. All other dates are no longer available.

I am bringing my family, can I book more than one guest room?

Guest rooms are limited to 1 per full conference registration. Friends & Family cannot make additional reservations in the NISC room block; guests will need to work directly with Walt Disney World® reservations.

What are the registration costs this year?

Early bird registration fees are $1,095 until Friday, July 12 and $1,195 for regular registration thereafter.

What does my conference registration include?

Opening Session, receptions on Monday and Tuesday, continental breakfast and lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday, all class sessions, MICfest on Wednesday evening, and hot breakfast and Closing Session on Thursday morning.

Do you have daily rates if someone cannot attend the whole conference?

The one-day rate is $475 per day. Note: It does NOT include MICfest on Wednesday evening. Please register and then send an email to mic@nisc.coop so we can adjust the rate.

Are badges required at all events?

Yes. Attendees will be required to have their badges for entrance to all events including MICfest. Attendees must show their badge before boarding the buses to MICfest. Registration will be open until the last bus departs for MICfest for those who may have lost their badge.

Can I bring Friends & Family to MIC this year?

The prices are $400 for guests aged 14 and up, $250 for guests aged 4-13 and children aged 3 and under are free. Remember that attendees can only book one room/suite from the NISC block during the conference dates.

I have dietary requirements. How do I communicate those?

Evening Events

Are activities being offered on Tuesday evening?

No activities are arranged specifically through NISC, so attendees have time to do activities on their own such as visiting one of the Walt Disney World® Parks, shop and/or dine at various establishments nearby at Disney Springs®. The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort offer complimentary water taxis from their boat dock to EPCOT® or Disney’s Hollywood Studios™ every 15 to 20 minutes. They also offer complimentary bus transportation to all Walt Disney World® Parks, including Disney Springs® every 20 to 30 minutes. For more information and to buy tickets, please click here.

Will NISC be offering discounts to Walt Disney World® Parks?

Attendees will receive exclusive After 1 p.m. and After 5 p.m. theme park tickets and special discounted multi-day tickets that are not available on-site. The multi-day tickets include a complimentary bonus visit for an additional Walt Disney World® experience! For more information and to buy tickets, please click here.

When and where is MICfest this year?

MICfest will be held on Wednesday, September 18 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Universal Islands of Adventure Theme Park where MIC attendees and guests will have the park to ourselves. There will be multiple food options throughout the park, plus you will be given two drink tickets and then a cash bar provided for beverages. NISC will be providing shuttles to and from the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort and Universal Studios. Your MIC registration and the Friends & Family registration will include a ticket to enter the theme park. There are no options to purchase a MICfest ticket only or to purchase a ticket through Universal Studios since it’s a private event.

Travel / Transportation

What airport should I be flying into for MIC?

The Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the closest airport to the official MIC hotels. There is an alternate airport option, Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB), for Allegiant Airlines, Flair Airlines and Sun Country Airlines.

What transportation to and/or from the airport to MIC hotels is provided?

MIC attendees will be responsible for their own transportation to the MIC from the airport. However, we will be offering shuttle service from the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort only to the airport for a $30 fee on Thursday, September 19 ONLY, beginning at noon. Pick-up times will later be posted.

Is there a place I can store my luggage on Thursday, September 19, since I’ll need to checkout before MIC is over?

Yes. We will have an area where you can drop off your luggage at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort only prior to attending the breakfast and Closing General Session.

What is the attire for MIC?

Business casual (jeans are OK) for all educational sessions is suggested. While the weather is typically warm in Orlando, meeting rooms tend to be chilly. We recommend bringing a sweater or wear layers during the day. On-site receptions and MICfest are casual. MICfest will require a decent amount of walking so comfortable shoes are highly recommended.

I am a concurrent session speaker at MIC this year. When can I access the room where my session will take place?

Concurrent session rooms will be available for viewing and practice on Monday, September 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Who do I contact if I have any questions before, during or after MIC?

Email mic@nisc.coop and one of the members of the Events Team will respond to your question ASAP.
